Aishath Naj
Naj is an award-winning, self-taught cinematographer and multidisciplinary artist from Hithadhoo in Addu City, the southernmost atoll of the Maldivian archipelago, working across photography, film, and visual storytelling.
With over 16 years of experience, she has shaped her practice through independent study, experimentation, and hands-on work. Her work includes commercial projects with international clients, brands, camera and production equipment partners, and high-end resorts in the Maldives, alongside advertising and editorial commissions, including work for high-profile clients such as the Qatari Royal Family.
Her practice spans commercial, aerial, landscape, and architectural photography, while also exploring film and long-form visual storytelling. Alongside her commercial work, Naj is a co-creator of the Two Thousand Isles project, documenting Maldivian island life and culture in the face of ongoing social and environmental change.
She is also increasingly focused on teaching and developing skill-based education in photography and visual storytelling.
